January 2013

Our counter always has science experiments on it these days.  One of the kids favorite Christmas presents this year was a butterfly kit.  Our caterpillars came in the mail and have been busy eating and growing.  Below, Jacob is trying to sprout an avocado seed.

Our family home evenings can be kind of crazy some weeks.  (Lots of reminders to not run around, etc)   This week Joshua had the lesson and wanted to talk about Captain Moroni and make their own titles of liberty.  At least, that was the part he discussed with me ahead of time when we were planning.  What that really meant to him and Jacob was marching around the house calling all the people to come and fight.  Needless to say, the poles which later became weapons were lost.  However it all ends well when the activity is "cat catcher" .  The kids made up version of chase.  They are the cats, we are the cat catchers.
Jacob is so excited to have lost his first tooth.  He has always loved the book One Morning in Maine by McCloskey and feels that this now means that he is grown up.  When I tell him that some activity requires an adult, he often tells me that he is one.
Emma is into eating her toes.
And sitting up in her walker.
