I am always telling myself that I need to write down more of the kids conversations. They say so many funny things every day. This is an effort to do that.
Jacob is so competitive. It is just part of his nature. I'm anti-competition which makes things interesting. I'm always trying to get him to turn it inward and compete with himself. I don't like competition because it doesn't focus on being your best, just better than the next guy. For Jacob, the next guy is Joshua, a three year old. Pretty easy, right?
The other morning the boys had been given a big talk about being peacemakers. They were really trying to do better and both boys had done several nice things for the other. Jacob (who has been keeping track, of course!) comes to me and says:
"Joshua has done three nice things for me and I've only done two back so I guess he is the best peacemaker. But, I just said something nice, which gives me three so now we are tied!"
And he walked away, very pleased with himself.
I give up.
Another funny Jacob moment.
During General Conference, it was suggested that to develop greater love in your family, you should pray for each other and serve each other. Pretty basic right? But, it was the first time we had thought to apply this to the kids loving each other more. So we told them that during their prayer, they should think of something to say for each member of our family. Jacob's went like this:
Please help Hannah to not grab my things. Please help Joshua to be nicer to me and please help Mom and Dad to be better parents.
I had to try so hard to keep a straight face. But it's OK. We can use all the help we can get! :)
