Joshua at 4 weeks. He is growing so fast. He weighs over 10 pounds now. He is in the 75 percentile for his height and weight. So even though he hasn't been feeling well, he isn't hurting too bad.
He has been having good and bad days--with evenings almost always being bad. The acid medicine is helping although if anyone (Julia or Tara) has a trick to get him to not spit it out everywhere, I'd love to hear it. Other than that they have just said he has colic and to deal with it until he outgrows it. I'm hoping that isn't too long.
I've learned to deal with the crying but Jacob has not. Poor kid--he's been a trooper. It usually makes him cry. Grocery shopping with kids is always fun but with two cranky kids might be insane especially for a non-shopper such as myself. If we didn't need to eat food, I'd probably avoid it completely. We were at the store the other day and Joshua started getting worked up. I could tell he didn't feel good. He got so worked up that Jacob started acting up and ended up crying. So I was that mom--the one you see with two screaming kids. I left all items I had planned to buy and headed as quickly to the door as possible, ignoring the bad looks you get from people who must not have had kids. I've decided that mom's have to have very tough skin. Mine has been getting a lot tougher lately.
To balance out the grocery store experiences, there are also the sweet moments where siblings hug and kiss and are really cute and the plain hilarious times. Jacob has been especially funny lately. He is so curious and gets into absolutely everything and yet he does it in such an innocent way that you can't be mad at him. He really wants to help with baby Joshua. If I even mention that I'm going to check Joshua's diaper to see if it is dirty, Jacob runs out of the room to get everything I might need. I hear lots of commotion coming from the nursery and then Jacob returns with at least 10 diapers, wipes and "feel good" cream aka diaper rash cream. He is on the job. He has Joshua's clothes unbuttoned before I can tell him that he wasn't in fact poopy. He has a good heart. I just have to channel all of the energy and excitement into something constructive.
Well Joshua looks like he might dose off and so I will too...
